Four Ways To Use Our Rubs
Share
We launched our brand new line of rubs/seasonings a couple of months ago. This was something we'd been wanting to do since we launched The Cornish Smoke Squad back in 2023 so we were very excited to get these out in the world!
We currently (as of Summer 2025) have 3 flavours in the range - Garlic Butter, BBQ and F'ing Hot One so let's go through how to use them.
The first, and probably the most obvious, is to rub the rub on meat! By utilising seasonings, you can enhance the flavour of your meals in one easy step.
Designed to be used before the cooking of your chosen meat, rubs (including ours) are made up of spices, herbs, salt and sugar, giving you the perfect concoction in one tub!
Simply rub your choice of rub onto your meat, poultry, or seafood and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to penetrate. The garlic butter rub adds a rich and savoury taste, while the BBQ rub brings a smoky sweetness. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the f'ing hot rub will definitely spice things up.
Combine the flavours from the rubs with the grilled flavours of the BBQ and you quite literally have a winning combo.
Rubs aren't just for meat. They can be the perfect addition to a vegetarian meal, too!
A couple of weeks back, we attended and sponsored the ProQ King of the Q BBQ competition. One of our lovely brand ambassadors, Dom from Cornish Carnivore, was competing, and his first dish was an 'ode' to his home of Cornwall and The Cornish Smoke Squad.
As part of his entry, he BBQ'd sweetcorn and topped it with our BBQ Rub. Such a good idea!
Sticking with the veg theme, we love sprinkling the garlic butter rub over potatoes with oil and then roasting them - honestly you need to try it!
This one's a bit of a different tip and that is stirring a rub in to a chilli con carne or soup. Who say's rubs can only be used on the BBQ?
Next time you're making a chilli con carne or spag bol, try sprinkling some of our BBQ or F'ing Hot Rub in to it. You'll be shocked just how much depth and flavour you get!
Alternatively, when you're cooking soup, sprinkle in your chosen flavour of rub, allow the soup to simmer on low heat and then serve.
If you're making a cheesy pasta, our garlic butter rub is the perfect flavour-enhancing tool! Make the pasta as you normally would, choose your sauce and whilst that's heating up, mix the rub in. Our F'ing hot one is also another great alternative, particularly if you're making a tomato pasta and want to add a little bit of spice.
So if any (or all three!) rubs have taken your fancy, head over and shop our website!
